**Karnataka Man Electrocuted During Ganesh Idol Immersion Procession**

A tragic incident occurred in Vijayapura, Karnataka, where a 21-year-old man lost his life due to electrocution while participating in Ganesh idol immersion celebrations. The accident took place on Tuesday near the Tonga stand close to Gandhi Chowk Circle, during the seventh day of the immersion rituals.

The victim, identified as Shubham Sankala, was attempting to lift a live wire with a stick to clear the path for the Ganesh idol procession when he came into contact with the wire. Local authorities reported that Shubham, a resident of Dobale Galli in Vijayapura, suffered a sudden electric shock while trying to move the wire overhead. Despite the prompt arrival of emergency services, they were unable to save him.

The immersion procession was significantly disrupted following this unfortunate event, prompting police personnel to be deployed in the area to manage the situation. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is currently underway.

This incident follows a series of similar tragedies in the region. On August 18, six individuals were electrocuted, and four others sustained critical injuries when a Krishna Janmashtami chariot came into contact with a live wire in Telangana’s Ramanthapur. Just a day later, on August 19, two men died during a Ganesh idol procession in Bandlaguda, Telangana, due to a mishap involving high-tension wires.

As communities come together to celebrate cultural events, the importance of safety measures around electrical installations cannot be overstated. Authorities are urged to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future.
