**Controversy at Meerut University Over RSS Question in Exam Paper**

A significant controversy has emerged at Chaudhary Charan Singh University in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, following the inclusion of a contentious question in a political science exam that allegedly associated the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with terrorist organizations. The incident has led to the university banning the professor responsible for setting the question paper from all examination and evaluation duties.

The issue arose during the second semester political science exam conducted on April 2, where a question suggested a link between the RSS and the escalation of religious and caste-based politics. Notably, the question listed the RSS alongside groups such as Naxalites, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, and Dal Khalsa, prompting outrage among students and members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the RSS.

In response to the uproar, ABVP members organized protests on campus and submitted a memorandum to the university registrar. The university’s registrar, Dhirendra Kumar Verma, confirmed that the professor, Seema Panwar, a political science instructor from Meerut College, had authored the question paper. He stated that Panwar had issued a written apology, expressing regret for any offense caused and clarifying that there was no intention to hurt sentiments. As a consequence, she will no longer be involved in preparing or evaluating future question papers.

The controversial question paper has also circulated on social media, further intensifying the situation. The university has initiated an investigation into the matter, emphasizing the seriousness of the incident and committing to implementing strict measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
