A player from the Steelers has explicitly stated his desire for Aaron Rodgers to not come to Pittsburgh.

Aaron Rodgers’ potential exit from the New York Jets leaves his NFL future uncertain. Despite showcasing his best performance towards the end of the 2024 season, the Jets managed only five wins as he made his comeback from a torn Achilles injury. Reports indicate that the Jets have informed Rodgers of their intention to move on from him, whether through a trade or outright release.

There are only a few teams where Rodgers could realistically secure a starting position. The Pittsburgh Steelers are among those facing decisions regarding their quarterback situation—whether to retain Russell Wilson or Justin Fields, or to explore the free-agent market for someone like Rodgers. Steelers safety DeShon Elliott has expressed his disapproval of the idea of Rodgers joining the team, responding to an Instagram post that suggested he might land in Pittsburgh with a comment urging the team to “leave his a– at the retirement home,” which he later deleted. However, the NFL community quickly captured a screenshot of his remark before it vanished.

Rodgers has not publicly confirmed whether he intends to play another season, as he approaches his 42nd birthday next December. In his only full season with the Jets, the 10-time Pro Bowler recorded 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdown passes, and 11 interceptions. Notably, he has not surpassed 4,000 passing yards since the 2021 season with the Green Bay Packers.
