**Principal Arrested for Assaulting Nursery Student in Chhattisgarh**

A principal in Durg district, Chhattisgarh, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 3.5-year-old nursery student after she greeted her with the traditional Hindu salutation “Radhe Radhe.” The incident occurred at Mother Teresa English Medium School in Bagdumar village, under the jurisdiction of Nandini police station.

According to police reports, the principal, Ela Even Kaulveen, reacted aggressively when the young girl greeted her. The child was reportedly slapped, had her mouth taped shut for nearly 15 minutes, and faced further physical punishment. The girl returned home visibly distressed and recounted the incident to her parents, prompting her father, Praveen Yadav, to file a formal complaint at the Nandini Police Station.

Visible injuries on the child supported the allegations of physical assault. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Padmashree Tanwar stated that the principal’s actions were excessive and unjustified, noting that the punishment was administered for the child’s failure to respond to a question. The principal has been arrested, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code concerning child abuse and causing harm.

The incident has ignited strong reactions within the community, with members of the Bajrang Dal visiting the police station to demand strict action against the school administration. They accused the institution of promoting religious discrimination under the guise of discipline and called for a broader investigation into the school’s practices.

Authorities have confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the facts and determine accountability. Additionally, the Education Department is expected to conduct an independent inquiry, which may lead to administrative actions against the school or its management based on the findings.
