According to the minister, Foxconn is expected to begin shipping iPhones from its Devanahalli facility in June this year.

**Foxconn’s New iPhone Manufacturing Unit in Bengaluru Set to Launch**

Taiwanese electronics manufacturing leader Foxconn is nearing the launch of its new facility near Bengaluru, with plans to commence iPhone deliveries by early June, according to Karnataka’s Minister for Commerce and Industries, M B Patil. In a recent post on X, Patil announced that the Foxconn unit located in the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) of Devanahalli is ready for inauguration.

Patil stated, “Foxconn’s Devanahalli unit is ready for inauguration! The facility at Devanahalli ITIR is all set to be inaugurated, with commercial iPhone shipments expected to begin in early June.” Foxconn has secured a contract with Apple to manufacture iPhones and has acquired 300 acres of land in the ITIR Industrial Area, situated in the Doddaballapura and Devanahalli Taluk of Bengaluru Rural District.

The launch of this new facility represents a significant strategic shift, as India is becoming Apple’s preferred manufacturing destination despite existing tariff challenges. Patil emphasized, “This is not just another manufacturing milestone – it signals a strategic shift. India is emerging as Apple’s preferred manufacturing hub, despite mounting geopolitical and tariff pressures.” This development is poised to enhance Karnataka’s position in global manufacturing and attract further foreign investment while safeguarding stakeholder interests.

Additionally, Patil noted that Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that a majority of iPhones sold in the U.S. during the June quarter will be produced in India. “As a Kannadiga, this is a proud moment. From Mysore to Cupertino — Karnataka continues to be in the global spotlight,” he remarked.

In his 2025-26 Budget speech, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah highlighted that Foxconn has initiated a mobile phone manufacturing plant in the Devanahalli Industrial Area with a substantial capital investment of ₹21,911 crore.

Recently, former U.S. President Donald Trump expressed concerns about Apple’s manufacturing plans in India, urging Cook to reconsider. “I had a little problem with Tim Cook yesterday,” Trump stated during a conversation in Qatar. “He is building all over India. I don’t want you building in India. India can take care of itself,” he added.

As Foxconn prepares to launch its new facility, the implications for India’s manufacturing landscape and its relationship with global tech giants like Apple are significant, marking a new era in the country’s industrial capabilities.
