Angel Reese delivered an impressive performance on Friday night in the 3-on-3 Unrivaled league. The 2023 NCAA champion recorded 22 points and secured 21 rebounds, marking the first 20-20 game in the league’s brief history before ultimately fouling out.
Playing for the Rose Basketball Club, Reese was in the post when her defender drew a charge. Although the defender may have exaggerated the call, it was sufficient to send Reese, who had been a dominant force throughout the game, to the bench. Frustrated by what she believed was a poor decision by the referees, Reese urged her coach to challenge the call, expressing her feelings passionately. However, no challenge was made, and she was sidelined for the remainder of the match, which her team won 72-63.
After the game, a fan took to social media to express their admiration for Reese, urging others not to “be on the wrong side of history” regarding her career, stating, “Reese is exactly who she thinks she is.” While the comment was intended as a compliment, Reese appeared to welcome the criticism, responding, “no. tell them stay on that side. please.”
Reese was selected as the seventh pick in last year’s WNBA Draft by the Chicago Sky following a stellar career at LSU, which included a national championship victory over Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes in 2023. In her rookie season, she set the record for the most rebounds in a single season, although that record was later surpassed by multi-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson.
