Amul broadens its global reach by introducing its milk products in Spain and other EU countries.

**Amul Partners with COVAP to Launch Milk in Spain and EU**

The Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited, known as Amul, has entered into a partnership with the prominent Spanish cooperative, Cooperativa Ganadera del Valle de los Pedroches (COVAP), to introduce Amul milk in Spain and throughout the European Union. The official launch took place at the Embassy of India in Madrid, attended by H.E. Dinesh K Patnaik, the Indian Ambassador to Spain, and D. Fernando Heredia Noguera, Deputy Director for International Relations and Community Affairs at the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. The event also saw the presence of COVAP President Ricardo Delgado Vizcaíno, along with senior representatives from Amul and its Spanish distribution partners.

Amul, which boasts a membership of 3.6 million dairy farmers, is recognized as the world’s largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative. The Amul brand is celebrated as the strongest dairy brand globally and is India’s largest consumer products group, generating over USD 11 billion in revenue and processing more than 12 billion liters of milk annually. Additionally, Amul ranks as the eighth largest milk processor worldwide, operating 112 dairy plants across India with a total milk handling capacity of 42 million liters per day.

COVAP, established in 1959 in Pozoblanco, Córdoba, is Spain’s leading cooperative with over 2,000 active farmer members, playing a vital role in Andalusia’s agri-food sector. Its advanced dairy plant processes more than 400 million liters of milk each year and exports to over 30 countries, including the US, UK, and various Asian markets.

The partnership will see Amul milk initially launched in Madrid and Barcelona, with plans to expand to Malaga, Valencia, Alicante, Seville, Córdoba, and Lisbon in Portugal. Future expansions are also planned for Germany, Italy, and Switzerland.

Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of Amul, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are honored to partner with COVAP, a respected Spanish dairy cooperative. This association will ensure that Spanish consumers enjoy the goodness of Amul Milk. This marks the first time Amul fresh milk is being introduced in Europe, aligning with our Prime Minister’s vision to establish Amul as a global dairy brand. We are confident that by 2025, the International Year of Cooperatives, we will bring the Amul brand closer to every Indian worldwide and demonstrate the strength of cooperation among cooperatives.”

COVAP President Ricardo Delgado Vizcaíno remarked, “This partnership with Amul enables us to collaborate with another cooperative to enhance their brand presence in Spain creatively.”
