**Headline:** Arrest of Third Accused in Noida Dowry Killing Case After Days of Evasion

In a shocking development in the Noida dowry killing case, Rohit Bhati, the 55-year-old elder brother-in-law of the victim, was apprehended near the Sirsa toll in Haryana on Monday after several days of evading law enforcement. He faces serious charges, including criminal conspiracy and murder, following a complaint lodged on August 22 by the victim’s elder sister, who is also part of the same family.

The primary suspect, Vipin Bhati, the victim’s husband, has been placed in 14-day judicial custody. Meanwhile, the victim’s father-in-law remains at large. On Sunday, the mother-in-law, Sans Dayawati, was arrested near JIMS Hospital in Greater Noida while allegedly attempting to visit her son, Vipin, who was injured during a police encounter after trying to escape custody earlier that day.

Vipin is accused of heinously attacking his wife, Nikki Bhati, by setting her ablaze at their Greater Noida residence. Reports indicate that he attempted to seize a firearm from an officer while being escorted to retrieve a bottle of flammable liquid he had reportedly purchased. Despite multiple warnings, he fled from custody near Sirsa Chauraha, prompting police to open fire, resulting in a gunshot wound to his leg.

After the encounter, Vipin was captured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. When questioned about his actions, he expressed no remorse, stating, “I have no remorse. I haven’t killed her. She died on her own.”

The tragic incident unfolded last Thursday when Nikki was allegedly tortured and set on fire by her in-laws in front of her young son and sister. The young boy recounted the horrifying event, saying, “They poured something on my mother, slapped her, and then set her on fire with a lighter.” Disturbing video clips circulated on social media depicted Nikki being assaulted and dragged by her hair, ultimately limping down the stairs after being set ablaze.

Nikki’s father revealed that despite meeting repeated dowry demands, her in-laws continued to harass her. “First they demanded a Scorpio in dowry, which was given. Later, they asked for a Bullet bike, and that was also provided. Yet, they kept torturing my daughter,” he told reporters. Preliminary investigations suggest that Vipin had also recently demanded a Mercedes that Nikki’s father had purchased.

In response to this grave situation, the National Women Commission has taken notice of the case and has requested a detailed action report from the top police official in Uttar Pradesh within three days.
