**Karnataka Lokayukta Conducts Statewide Raids on Corrupt Officials**

The Karnataka Lokayukta launched a series of coordinated raids across the state on Tuesday, targeting eight government officials suspected of financial misconduct. This extensive operation resulted in substantial seizures, including gold and diamond jewelry, as well as ₹1.5 lakh in cash from the residence of Ashok Valsand, the Chief Engineer of the Karnataka Neeravari Nigam Limited (KNNL) in the Dharwad division. The valuables were discovered at his home in Ramtirth Nagar, while a separate team of Lokayukta officials also searched his office in Dharwad.

The raids were initiated following multiple complaints regarding disproportionate assets and financial irregularities involving government personnel from various departments. Among those under investigation are Prakash, an Assistant Engineer with the BBMP in Govindrajnagar, Bengaluru; Dr. S Pradeep, Associate Research Director at the Organic Farming Department in Shivamogga; Latha Mani, Accounts Officer with the Town Municipality in Chikkamagaluru; and KG Amarnath, Chief Officer of the Town Municipality in Anekal. The list also includes Dhruvaraj, Town Police Inspector in Gadag; Mallikarjun Alipur, a former Engineer with the RDPR Department in Kalaburagi; and Ramchandra, Panchayat Development Officer in Kalaburagi. Ongoing searches at their residences and offices aim to gather further evidence.

This operation follows a previous raid on May 8, where the Karnataka Lokayukta police targeted four government officials, uncovering unaccounted cash, valuables, and incriminating documents from their homes and offices. The officials involved in that operation included Suresh Babu G, a Survey Supervisor in Kolar Taluk; Raja Venkatappa Nayak, a Taluk Health Officer in Surpur, Yadgir district; MB Ravi, an Assistant Executive Engineer with the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board in Davangere; and G Srinivas Murthy, an Assistant Executive Engineer in the Water Resources Department, Mahadevapura.

In April, the Lokayukta conducted a similar raid in Ballari, recovering assets valued at over ₹8 crore, including luxury cars, properties, and gold. These ongoing efforts by the Karnataka Lokayukta highlight the commitment to combating corruption and ensuring accountability among government officials.
