Elev8 has finalized its inaugural fund totaling $160 million, focusing on investments in growth opportunities with the aim of identifying potential unicorns.

**Elev8 Venture Partners Plans 12-13 Investments from Fund I**

Elev8 Venture Partners, led by founder and managing partner Navin Honagudi, has already made five investments from its inaugural Fund I, with plans to complete 12 to 13 investments in total. This move aligns with a surge in venture capital activity in India this year, as several firms have launched significant funds. Notable examples include Accel’s $650 million Fund III, Bessemer Venture Partners’ $350 million second India-focused fund, and Elevation Capital’s $400 million vehicle aimed at IPO-bound startups.

Elev8’s portfolio features a diverse range of companies, including fintech platform Smallcase, identity verification firm IDfy, astrology startup AstroTalk, buy now pay later service Snapmint, and logistics company Porter. The firm typically invests between $10 million and $15 million per deal, with the flexibility to co-invest up to $30 million in select cases, targeting ownership stakes of 7% to 14%.

The firm is particularly interested in companies valued between $100 million and $300 million, as Honagudi noted that entering at this stage allows for the potential of achieving a 5-7X return as these companies progress toward becoming unicorns—startups valued at over $1 billion. Elev8 is prioritizing primary investments, with 70% to 75% of Fund I allocated to this strategy. Primary investments involve acquiring stakes directly in companies, while secondary investments allow earlier investors to exit by selling their stakes to new investors.

So far, Elev8 has deployed 35% of its fund and anticipates investing the remainder within the next 18 to 24 months. The firm aims for an internal rate of return of 23-25% over the fund’s seven-year lifecycle, concluding in August 2032, with plans to start returning investments to investors in 2028.

Elev8 secured a commitment from Koomin Global, one of Korea’s largest commercial banks, to anchor the fund. The capital structure is balanced between international and local investors, with institutional investors making up 45% of the total, while family offices and high-net-worth individuals account for 55%.

The firm focuses on three primary sectors: consumer internet, business-to-business (B2B) enterprise software, and fintech, and intends to maintain this focus for its remaining investments. Notably, artificial intelligence has not been a focal point in their current investment strategy.
