Important issue: A Congress leader is demanding an investigation into allegations of cross-voting in the Vice Presidential election.

**Congress MP Calls for Investigation into Alleged Cross-Voting in Vice Presidential Elections**

In a strong response to the alleged cross-voting by members of the INDIA bloc during the recent Vice Presidential elections, Congress Member of Parliament (MP) Manish Tewari has demanded a comprehensive investigation by each member of the alliance. His comments come in light of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate CP Radhakrishnan’s victory, which raised eyebrows as the INDIA bloc’s vote count fell short by 15.

Tewari emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating, “If there was cross-voting, then it should be seriously investigated by each of the constituents of the INDIA Alliance. Cross-voting is an extremely serious matter.” He further urged that if the speculations hold any truth, a systematic and thorough investigation is warranted.

The controversy intensified as BJP leaders, including Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and BJP General Secretary BL Santhosh, made indirect comments regarding the opposition. Rijiju expressed gratitude on social media to those INDIA bloc MPs who “voted with conscience” for the NDA candidate, while Santhosh pointed out that the opposition’s nominee received 15 fewer votes than anticipated, hinting at possible internal discord.

The opposition’s candidate, Justice (Retd) B Sudershan Reddy, garnered approximately 40 percent of the votes, a result that Congress leader Jairam Ramesh described as “respectable.” However, the shortfall in votes has sparked concerns about unity and potential defections within the opposition alliance.

In addition to addressing the election controversy, Tewari commented on the political unrest in South Asia, linking recent events in Bangladesh and Nepal to a broader pattern of destabilization in the region. He stated, “What happened to Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh and KP Sharma Oli in Nepal is not coincidental,” suggesting that while domestic triggers may exist, there is an orchestrated effort to disrupt stability in South Asia.

Tewari also raised alarms about inadequate flood relief efforts in Punjab and called for the central government to reassess the situation, advocating for proportional support not only in Punjab but also in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, which have also faced significant challenges.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, Tewari’s remarks highlight the need for unity within the opposition and a vigilant approach to both domestic and regional issues.
