In a remarkable display of efficiency, the Andhra Pradesh Police successfully traced and located two minor girls within four and a half hours after a missing persons’ complaint was filed. The Class 8 students, who had gone missing from Ambedkar Konaseema district on Monday evening, were found safe on a train heading to Tirupati, thanks to a swift and coordinated operation involving multiple departments.

The girls, both students at a local school, left for class as usual but did not return home, prompting their worried parents to report their absence at the Angara Police Station. Despite the family’s efforts to search the nearby areas, there was no sign of the girls, which led to increasing concern for their safety.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Angara Sub-Inspector Harish Kumar escalated the matter to Mandapeta Rural Circle Inspector P Dhoraraju. The case was classified as a high priority due to the involvement of minors, and senior officials, including Superintendent of Police B Krishna Rao and Deputy Superintendent of Police B Raghuveer, were alerted. A technical team was deployed to assist in the investigation, and four special teams were formed under the direction of CI Dhoraraju.

CCTV footage revealed the girls heading towards the railway station, and investigators discovered that one of the girls had made a phone call to a relative while on the train. Although the phone was later switched off, mobile tower data helped track its signal to an area beyond Vijayawada. This information led officials to deduce that the girls were likely on the Kakinada-Tirupati express.

The Railway Police were notified, and a special team boarded the suspected train with photographs of the missing girls. The search concluded at Ongole station, where the girls were found in the general coach and positively identified.

A preliminary inquiry indicated that the girls had been feeling overwhelmed by strict rules at home and had lost interest in their studies. They had intended to travel to Tirupati in search of peace. The police recovered jewelry the girls had taken with them, including gold chains, earrings, and silver anklets, and returned these items to their families.

This incident underscores the importance of prompt action and collaboration among law enforcement agencies in ensuring the safety of minors.
