**Gujarat ATS Arrests Three in Major Drug Seizure Case**
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has apprehended three additional suspects linked to a significant drug seizure case earlier this year, involving Alprazolam and other illicit substances valued at Rs 107 crore. These latest arrests occurred in three different districts outside of Gujarat.
According to ATS officials, the accused had made advance payments totaling Rs 30 lakh for 107 kg of Alprazolam, a controlled substance under the NDPS Act. The individuals arrested have been identified as Aslam Khan, Kaluram Patidar, and Sakil Mohammad. Investigations revealed that Aslam Khan, hailing from Madhya Pradesh, had paid Rs 15 lakh for 5 kg of Alprazolam, while Kaluram Patidar and Sakil Mohammad, both from Rajasthan, contributed Rs 30 lakh for 11 kg.
The financial transactions were facilitated through Angadia services to the primary supplier, Ajay Jain. ATS officials indicated that Ajay Jain sourced Alprazolam and Tramadol from another suspect, Vijay Makwana, and distributed them to various buyers, including the three recently arrested individuals.
Notably, Aslam Khan has a prior conviction, having served a 10-year prison sentence under the NDPS Act in 2011. Kaluram Patidar has three NDPS-related cases against him, with one conviction resulting in a 2-year sentence.
Earlier this year, in January, the Gujarat ATS conducted a raid on Greenlife Industries located in Neja village, Khambhat taluka of Anand district, uncovering a drug manufacturing facility. During this operation, six suspects were arrested, and 2,518 kg of chemicals, including Alprazolam, were seized. Subsequently, an additional 500 kg of Tramadol was recovered from a warehouse in Dholka.
The ongoing investigations highlight the ATS’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring public safety in the region.
