The BJP has labeled the Karnataka SC survey as fraudulent following the release of a video that depicts officials avoiding certain houses.

**Karnataka SC Household Survey Faces Integrity Concerns Amid Controversy**

The recent survey of Scheduled Caste (SC) households in Karnataka has come under fire following the release of CCTV footage from Bengaluru. The footage allegedly shows enumerators affixing completion stickers without engaging with residents, raising serious questions about the survey’s integrity. The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized the initiative, labeling it a “bogus” and misleading process. They have expressed doubts regarding the intent and reliability of the enumeration, which is designed to gather data on SC households throughout the state.

BJP spokesperson Ashok Gowda highlighted instances where enumerators reportedly placed stickers on homes that do not belong to Scheduled Caste families. He pointed out that in neighborhoods such as Girinagar, BTM Layout, and Shantinagar, stickers were being affixed to residences of various communities, including Brahmins, Vokkaligas, Lingayats, and OBCs. “What will be the authenticity of this survey? What is this survey going to reveal?” he questioned.

In response to the backlash, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized that residents have the option to register online if they miss the door-to-door enumeration or if it is conducted improperly. “If that’s the case, enroll online. Is there any problem in enrolling online? You can enroll online or when they come home. There are so many ways to enroll, we accept it,” Siddaramaiah stated.

This controversy arises as Karnataka prepares for a more comprehensive caste census, following directives from the Congress High Command. The current survey, initiated by the Karnataka government on May 5, aims to collect empirical data on SC sub-castes to inform internal reservation policies. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has described this data collection as crucial for promoting social justice and ensuring equitable distribution of benefits. He noted that there are 101 sub-castes, including Left, Right, Lamani, and others, but emphasized the lack of empirical data available from the 2011 census.

In conclusion, the ongoing scrutiny of the SC household survey highlights significant concerns regarding its execution and the potential implications for social policy in Karnataka.
