The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a Junior Engineer from the Naval Officers Family Residential Area (NOFRA) in Mumbai for allegedly soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs 4.5 lakh. The engineer, identified as DC Pandey, was caught in the act following a written complaint that led to a sting operation.

According to the complainant, Pandey initially requested Rs 5.5 lakh to expedite the clearance of pending bills for his firm. After negotiations, the bribe amount was reduced to Rs 4.5 lakh. Acting on the complaint, the CBI set up a trap and arrested him on Thursday.

Following his arrest, Pandey was presented before a Special Judge in Mumbai and has been remanded to police custody until June 9. In addition to the arrest, CBI officials conducted searches at both his residential and office locations in Mumbai and Roorkee as part of the ongoing investigation.
