The group consisted of a 70-year-old driver, three women, two 17-year-old boys, and the minor girl, who were traveling from a village in Junnar tehsil to the temple town of Pandharpur in Solapur district. According to police reports, the driver, feeling drowsy, parked the car near a tea stall. As he stepped away, two men on a motorcycle approached the vehicle, brandishing sharp weapons and threatening the occupants.

The assailants demanded valuables, successfully looting gold jewelry from the three women passengers. In a horrifying turn of events, they forcibly removed the minor girl from the car and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene on their motorcycle. The remaining passengers, in shock, managed to alert local authorities about the incident.

A 73-year-old owner of the nearby tea stall reportedly witnessed the crime but was unable to provide significant details due to his age, according to police officials.

Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. Pune (Rural) Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill stated that eight teams have been formed to track down and apprehend the suspects. The police are actively investigating the case and working to identify the assailants.
