**Unchained Launches Bitcoin Legacy Project to Strengthen Ecosystem**

Bitcoin financial services company Unchained has unveiled the Bitcoin Legacy Project, a significant multi-year initiative designed to bolster the long-term development, education, and advocacy of the Bitcoin ecosystem. This ambitious project kicks off with an initial commitment of $1 million, with plans for additional funding in the coming years.

The Bitcoin Legacy Project aims to provide financial support to various stakeholders within the Bitcoin community, including developers, educators, core infrastructure projects, and advocacy organizations. Key elements of the initiative encompass funding for Bitcoin community hubs, the establishment of a think tank, a university endowment, and direct support for Bitcoin core development.

A notable feature of this initiative is the introduction of what Unchained describes as the first Bitcoin-native donor-advised fund (DAF) platform. This platform enables individuals and institutions to make tax-efficient donations of Bitcoin or other assets, with the option to direct grants to U.S.-based nonprofit organizations. Contributions can be held in Bitcoin within the fund, and recipients have the choice to receive grants in Bitcoin as well.

To encourage participation, Unchained will match donations made through the DAF platform to selected partner organizations, including the MIT Media Lab’s Digital Currency Initiative, Human Rights Foundation, Open Sats, and Brink, up to a limit of 1 BTC.

In addition to philanthropic efforts, the Bitcoin Legacy Project will also support physical spaces dedicated to Bitcoin collaboration and innovation. In its inaugural year, the project will allocate funding to three Bitcoin hubs: Bitcoin Park in Nashville, Bitcoin Commons in Austin, and The Space in Denver. These hubs are intended to promote development, education, and community engagement within the Bitcoin sector.

Unchained is also committing resources to broader research and policy initiatives. This includes a $50,000 contribution to the Bitcoin Policy Institute and $150,000 to establish the first Bitcoin-focused university endowment at the University of Austin. Furthermore, a new Bitcoin Scholars program will distribute up to $250,000 in research grants to foster original work and thought leadership in the Bitcoin space.

“Bitcoin’s strength comes from the people who build, educate, and advocate for its future. Yet, many of the most critical initiatives struggle with long-term funding,” stated Joe Kelly, CEO of Unchained. “We believe in not just using Bitcoin, but strengthening it for future generations. The Bitcoin Legacy Project is our commitment to ensuring that Bitcoin remains strong, sovereign, and unbreakable.”

The Bitcoin Legacy Project exemplifies Unchained’s broader strategy to support the growth of Bitcoin while reinforcing its commitment to financial services centered on collaborative custody and long-term asset security.
