Uttarakhand has issued a heavy rain warning following flash floods that resulted in the deaths of four individuals; rescue operations are currently underway.

**Heavy Rain Alert in Uttarakhand Following Fatal Flash Floods**

Uttarakhand is currently facing heavy rainfall, exacerbating the aftermath of devastating flash floods that have claimed four lives and left nine Army personnel missing. Rescue operations are ongoing in the Uttarkashi district, where a cloudburst triggered a sudden mudslide and flash flood, particularly affecting the village of Dharali.

The disaster struck after a cloudburst in the Kheer Ganga river catchment area, unleashing torrents of water, mud, and debris down the hillsides. Visuals from Dharali, a popular tourist destination, depict the village partially submerged, with significant destruction evident as water swept through, burying homes and infrastructure.

Rescue teams are working tirelessly under challenging conditions, facing continuous rain, hazardous terrain, and blocked roads. The inclement weather has grounded helicopters and hindered access to remote areas, complicating relief efforts. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rain across several districts, including Haridwar, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar, while other regions remain under an orange alert. In response to the severe weather, educational institutions in multiple districts, including Dehradun and Nainital, will remain closed.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has returned to Dehradun from Andhra Pradesh to oversee emergency response efforts. He emphasized the priority of saving lives and directed district authorities to accelerate search and relief operations while ensuring essential supplies reach affected areas. Landslides have obstructed 163 roads statewide, including five national highways, complicating access for rescue personnel.

In light of the ongoing crisis, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is mobilizing resources to assist in the rescue and recovery efforts.
