In a shocking incident in Surat, a seven-year-old boy was assaulted by a woman after he rang her doorbell multiple times while playing with friends. The event occurred at the Silicon Residency society on January 9, between 9 and 10 PM. The child, identified as Devansh, was engaged in a harmless prank when the woman, reportedly enraged, reacted violently.

CCTV footage from the scene reveals the woman dragging Devansh across the ground and slamming him down, sparking widespread outrage and prompting immediate police intervention. The video shows the boy crying and attempting to cling to a pillar in a desperate effort to resist her forceful grip. As he fell to the ground, Devansh broke down in tears, while other children watched in shock.

Following the incident, Devansh sustained multiple injuries, including severe bruising on his legs from being dragged, swelling on his right leg, and visible marks on his stomach and face. His father, Sudhirbhai Bholabhai Vaghasia, was unaware of the assault until he was informed by other children later that evening. Upon seeing his son’s injuries, he reported the incident to the building’s block head and reviewed the CCTV footage the next day, which confirmed the assault.

Vaghasia expressed his concern, stating, “The footage clearly shows my son being dragged and assaulted. We filed a complaint at the Sarathana police station the following morning.” He also mentioned that when his wife confronted the woman about the attack, she threatened further violence if Devansh rang her doorbell again. The family is now seeking strict legal action, emphasizing their trust in the justice system.

The accused, identified as Apeksha Ritvik Vaishnav, was later detained by the police. In a recorded statement, she admitted to hitting Devansh, claiming he had rung her doorbell several times before. “I slapped him two or three times. It was my mistake, and I accept it. No one should make such a mistake,” she stated.

The Sarathana police are currently pursuing further legal action based on the complaint and the evidence captured on CCTV.
