West Bengal has introduced an initiative worth Rs 8,000 crore to tackle local civic challenges.

**West Bengal Launches ‘Amader Para, Amader Samadhan’ Initiative to Tackle Local Issues**

The West Bengal government has introduced a new outreach program named ‘Amader Para, Amader Samadhan’ (Our Neighborhood, Our Solution) aimed at addressing local civic concerns such as road maintenance, drinking water supply, street lighting, and sanitation. The initiative commenced on Saturday with the establishment of 632 camps across the state, marking the first day of a broader effort that will see over 27,000 camps set up in the next 60 days, covering more than 80,000 polling booths.

This ambitious initiative, backed by a budget of Rs 8,000 crore, allocates Rs 10 lakh per booth. Residents are encouraged to visit their local camps with their voter ID to submit written complaints, including their name, address, ward number, booth number, and mobile number. The government has pledged to resolve these registered issues by November 15, following a 30-day administrative review after the camp period concludes. The camps are designed to foster direct engagement with residents, allowing them to report and prioritize local needs effectively.

Key issues being prioritized include the installation of street lights, minor road repairs, ensuring a reliable drinking water supply, renovating water bodies, repairing schools and community halls, constructing toilets in slum areas, and enhancing local beautification efforts. Additionally, ‘Duare Sarkar’ service counters will be available at the camps to assist residents in accessing state-run schemes.

The initiative is being overseen by a task force led by Chief Secretary Manoj Pant, with district-level teams responsible for its implementation. In the Kolkata Municipal Corporation area, one camp is designated for every two booths. The government has urged residents to participate actively and stay updated on the initiative’s progress through the official website, where they can also track the allocation of booth-level funds.

On the first day of the program, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee shared insights on social media, inviting the public to engage in discussions at their local camps to ensure the success of ‘Amader Para, Amader Samadhan.’ She expressed gratitude to government officials and stakeholders for their efforts in facilitating the smooth rollout of the campaign.

Government officials will be present in each locality to listen to grievances, register demands, and oversee the process, which is expected to last for two months. This initiative aims to enhance service delivery by directly engaging with citizens and involving them in local-level planning, reflecting a commitment to participatory governance as the state approaches the 2026 Assembly elections.
