**Zoho Corporation Announces Leadership Transition: Shailesh Kumar Davey Appointed New Group CEO**
On January 27, Sridhar Vembu, CEO of cloud software startup Zoho Corporation, shared on social media that co-founder Shailesh Kumar Davey will succeed him as the new group CEO. Vembu will transition to the role of Chief Scientist, focusing on research and development initiatives.
In his announcement, Vembu stated, “I will step down as CEO of Zoho Corp and take a new role as Chief Scientist, responsible for deep R&D initiatives. Our co-founder Shailesh Kumar Davey will serve as our new group CEO.” Both Vembu and Davey are co-founders of Zoho Corp.
Shailesh Kumar Davey holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Metallurgy from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and a Master of Technology (MTech) in Industrial Management from IIT Madras. Prior to his new role, Davey served as the vice president of engineering at ManageEngine, the IT management division of Zoho Corporation. He has played a significant role in Zoho’s engineering processes and has experience in network projects from his tenure at Tata-IBM.
In a statement, Davey emphasized the importance of optimizing software, servers, and data centers to deliver substantial value to customers. Vembu’s decision to step down as CEO and assume the Chief Scientist role aligns with Zoho’s strategic focus on expanding into artificial intelligence and machine learning. He remarked, “The future of our company entirely depends on how well we navigate the R&D challenge.”
