**Alexander Dragonetti Inspires Over £70,000 in Donations for Charity Following The Traitors Appearance**
Finalist Alexander Dragonetti from The Traitors has motivated individuals to contribute more than £70,000 to Mencap, a charity dedicated to supporting people with learning disabilities, after sharing his brother’s story on the show. In an interview on The UK Tonight With Sarah-Jane Mee, Mr. Dragonetti expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response, stating, “The response has been fantastic. I am incredibly grateful to anyone who supports or raises awareness on what I consider an incredibly important topic.”
The former British diplomat reflected on his late brother, who had Global Developmental Delay and autism, sharing that he attended a summer camp for one week each year, where Mr. Dragonetti also volunteered to assist other children. He fondly described his brother as “the centre of attention,” noting, “Everyone would flock around him; he had this energy that drew people in. He was also slightly cooler than I was. I just stood there and waved, basking in his reflected glory. It was such fun for him.”
Mr. Dragonetti mentioned that his brother, who passed away at the age of 17, would have been thrilled to see him on television as part of the BBC show. He acknowledged the joys and challenges of having special needs children, stating, “Often parents don’t have much of a voice. If I can help create that voice for parents to secure the support they need, that would be my proudest outcome from the show.”
Although Mr. Dragonetti did not win the latest series of The Traitors, losing to project manager Jake Brown and former soldier Leanne Quigley, he revealed that he has formed friendships with his fellow contestants. “We actually are all friends now,” he shared. “I was texting Leanne during the final episode, apologizing for accusing her, and she was texting me back, saying, ‘Oh my God, I got it so wrong.’ We’ve become really close since then, and it’s been wonderful to get to know each other in a less pressurized environment.”
When asked about being labeled “the nation’s sweetheart” and his relationship status, Mr. Dragonetti simply replied, “I am [single]. No further comment.
