In a shocking turn of events, a woman from Uttar Pradesh has been accused of hiring contract killers to murder her husband during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. The couple, Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam, had been missing since May 23, and the investigation has revealed that Sonam was allegedly involved in an extramarital affair, prompting the heinous act.

On Monday morning, Sonam surrendered to the police, leading to the arrest of three alleged hitmen. While Sonam is currently detained in Ghazipur, the three suspects were apprehended in Indore, the couple’s hometown. Authorities are still searching for another individual believed to be involved in the plot.

Meghalaya’s Deputy Inspector General of Police, Davis Marak, confirmed that the murder was premeditated, stating that the honeymoon trip was orchestrated with the intent to kill Raja. Initial investigations suggest that Sonam’s affair was the primary motive behind this cold-blooded act.

However, Raja’s brother, Vipul, disputes the narrative that Sonam surrendered voluntarily. He claims that the breakthrough in the case occurred when Sonam contacted her brother via video call from a roadside eatery in Nandganj, Ghazipur, early Monday morning. Following her call, Vipul alerted the Indore Police, who coordinated with their counterparts in Ghazipur. The eatery owner also contacted emergency services, leading to Sonam’s rescue.

“I spoke to Govind around 2 AM. He informed me that Sonam was found in Uttar Pradesh. After we contacted UP Police, Sonam was taken by the police. She did not surrender. We will not agree that Sonam is the accused until and unless she confesses to this. Both Raja and Sonam appeared happy in their marriage; I never saw them fighting,” Vipul stated.

CCTV footage from May 22, the day before the couple went missing, shows Raja and Sonam interacting normally in Shillong, where they checked into a homestay before riding away on a scooter, which was later found abandoned. Disturbingly, Sonam’s white shirt was discovered next to Raja’s body, which was located in a gorge in the Cherrapunji area on June 2, approximately 20 kilometers from their homestay.

This case has raised numerous questions about the dynamics of their relationship and the circumstances leading to this tragic event.
