Texas A&M University’s cherished mascot, Reveille X, is on the road to recovery following a surgical procedure to address a health issue. The beloved collie underwent surgery to remove her right eye after being diagnosed with glaucoma. Prior to the surgery, Reveille X experienced discomfort and cloudiness in her eye, as noted by Texas A&M President Mark A. Welsh III. The decision to remove the eye was made with caution after abnormal tissue was detected.
Welsh expressed relief, stating, “I’m grateful to report that Miss Rev has come through the surgery successfully, has been discharged, and is resting comfortably.”
Reveille X, affectionately known as the “First Lady of Aggieland,” has been a prominent figure on the sidelines since the 2021 season. The tradition of the Reveille mascot dates back to 1931 when a group of cadets discovered an injured dog and brought her to campus.
