**Sun TV Networks Reports 20% Decline in Q3 Profit**
New Delhi, Feb 7 (PTI) – Sun TV Networks Ltd announced a 20% decrease in its consolidated profit after tax (PAT), reporting ₹363.26 crore for the third quarter ending December 2024. This is a drop from the ₹454.09 crore PAT recorded during the same period last year, as per a filing with the BSE. The company’s revenue from operations also fell by 10.35%, totaling ₹827.56 crore in the December quarter, compared to ₹923.15 crore in the previous year.
Total expenses for Sun TV Networks rose by 10.86% to ₹500.01 crore in the December quarter of FY25. The overall income for the company in this quarter was ₹967.56 crore, reflecting an 8.6% decline. Additionally, in a separate announcement, the board declared an interim dividend of 50%, equating to ₹2.50 per equity share of ₹5 each for the financial year 2024-25.
Sun TV Networks also owns the SunRisers Hyderabad cricket franchise in the Indian Premier League and the SunRisers Eastern Cape in Cricket South Africa’s T20 League. The results for the quarter and the nine months ending December 31, 2024, included income from the cricket franchises amounting to ₹8.98 crore and ₹522.66 crore, with corresponding costs of ₹1.09 crore and ₹238.85 crore, respectively.
The company operates satellite television channels in seven languages—Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bangla, Hindi, and Marathi—and runs FM radio stations across India. Following the announcement, shares of Sun TV Networks Ltd closed 1.42% lower at ₹629.65 each on the BSE.
