Two prominent figures in Philadelphia attributed their success to faith following the Eagles’ impressive victory in Super Bowl LIX. The Eagles secured their second Lombardi Trophy on Sunday night with a commanding 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, halting the Chiefs’ pursuit of a third consecutive Super Bowl title.
Shortly after the game concluded, FOX broadcaster Tom Rinaldi spoke with head coach Nick Sirianni, who expressed gratitude to the Lord for the win. “God’s blessed us very much,” Sirianni stated. “He gave us all the talents to be able to get here, so first and foremost, thanks to Him. … Thank God, thank you Jesus.” During the trophy presentation, he told Terry Bradshaw, “All glory to God.”
Darius Slay also acknowledged his “Lord and Savior” in an interview with the NFL Network after the game. Jalen Hurts, the game’s MVP, shared his thoughts with Erin Andrews, saying, “God is good. He’s greater than all the highs and the lows.”
The Chiefs, known for having one of the top offenses in the NFL this season and boasting a strong history in the Super Bowl over the past two years, struggled significantly in the first half, managing only 34 total yards of offense as the Eagles’ defense excelled against their offensive line. Patrick Mahomes faced constant pressure, leading to three consecutive punts on their initial possessions. He threw two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown by rookie Cooper DeJean. The Eagles’ defense recorded six sacks against Mahomes.
The Eagles previously won their first Super Bowl seven years ago, defeating the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII.
