Kanye West has removed his X account following backlash over a series of offensive posts on the platform. The rapper, also known as Ye, faced criticism for making “hate-filled” comments about Jewish individuals. In a series of posts, he expressed admiration for Hitler and identified as a Nazi, stating, “I love Hitler” and “I’m a Nazi.” He also declared, “I’m never apologising for my Jewish comments.” As a result, a “sensitive content warning” was placed on his account.
Now, at 47 years old, West appears to have deleted his X account entirely. He announced, “I’m logging out of Twitter,” expressing gratitude to X owner Elon Musk for allowing him to share his thoughts. He described the experience as “cathartic,” likening it to an Ayahuasca trip, and thanked his followers for their engagement.
During the Super Bowl, he made a controversial post regarding Taylor Swift, questioning why she was allowed to perform a song that he felt was detrimental to Black men.
The Campaign Against Antisemitism had previously urged Musk to remove West from the platform due to his offensive remarks. A spokesperson stated, “Once again, Ye has gone on an antisemitic rampage online,” emphasizing the need for action against such incitement during a time of rising antisemitism. Actor David Schwimmer also joined the call for West’s removal, criticizing the platform for allowing him to spread hate.
West, who has 32.7 million followers on X, has faced suspension from the platform multiple times in the past, including an incident in October 2022.
