**Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella Reflects on 34 Years of Excitement and Purpose at the Company**

Satya Nadella, the Indian-origin Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft, expressed his enduring enthusiasm for the company during a recent podcast with Indian YouTuber Dwarkesh Patel. Throughout his 34-year journey at Microsoft, Nadella has consistently felt more excitement each year, emphasizing that his passion for the work transcends the notion of being merely a “company man.”

In the interview, Nadella also delved into topics such as Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and advancements in quantum technology. When asked about his identity within the company, he stated, “Through my 34 years now at Microsoft, it has basically been, each year, I felt more excited about being at Microsoft versus thinking that ‘I’m a company person.’”

Nadella offered valuable advice for new employees joining Microsoft, highlighting the importance of viewing their roles as a platform for both economic gain and a sense of purpose. He remarked, “Even for anybody joining Microsoft… as long as they feel that they can use this as a platform for their economic return, but also a sense of purpose and a sense of mission that they can accomplish, by using us as a platform. So, therefore, that’s the contract.”

He emphasized the need for companies to foster a culture that enables employees to feel like integral parts of the organization. Nadella praised Microsoft for providing him with such an opportunity and expressed hope that this culture continues for all employees. “So I think companies have to create a culture that allows people to come in and become company people like me. And Microsoft got it more right than wrong, at least in my case. I hope that remains the case,” he stated.

The full interview, which covers a range of topics from AI to gaming, is available on Patel’s X account, where Nadella expressed his enjoyment of the conversation, saying, “Thanks, @dwarkesh_sp. It was a fun conversation chatting about everything from AI to gaming and quantum.”
