Costumes and memorabilia from celebrities generated hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue following the wildfires in Los Angeles.

Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Dave Grohl are among the celebrities who have generously contributed memorabilia to aid those impacted by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles. As part of the Give A Frock campaign, nearly 80 outfits, instruments, and other cultural items were auctioned off, alongside a charity concert held earlier this month.

Chappell Roan’s contributions alone, including a sequined marching band unitard worn in her music video for the hit single “Hot To Go,” garnered a remarkable total of $117,475 (£92,439). Sabrina Carpenter’s polka-dot outfit from the “Taste” music video and a blue velvet mini dress from “Please Please Please” also attracted significant bids, selling for $22,225 (£17,000) and $34,925 (£26,000) respectively.

Additionally, an Epiphone DG-335 Pelham Blue Signature Model electric guitar, signed by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, fetched $50,800 (£39,000). Other notable auction items included ear clips worn by Billie Eilish, a custom Gucci tracksuit made for Charli XCX for her Sweat tour, a dress worn by Shirley Manson in Garbage’s “I Think I’m Paranoid” music video from 1998, and personalized Adidas tracksuits worn by the Beastie Boys during their 2004 tour.

All proceeds from the auction will benefit charities such as One Voice, Altadena Girls, Pasadena Humane, and Friends in Deed, which support those affected by the wildfires that devastated large areas of Los Angeles earlier this year, including Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Pasadena, and Altadena. The fires resulted in an estimated economic loss of $250 billion (£197 billion), with real estate losses from the Palisades and Eaton fires projected to exceed $30 billion (£23 billion), according to analysis by the Los Angeles Times. Over 16,200 structures were destroyed, and at least 29 lives were lost.

Martin Nolan, executive director and co-founder of Julien’s Auctions, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from the stars, stating, “We are thrilled with today’s wildly successful auction and beyond grateful and overwhelmed by the support of all of the stars, who unified together to give us their most iconic frocks and pieces to rock for a good cause.
