Jimmy Butler was quite serious about his desire to leave Miami. The NBA star openly expressed his wish to be traded by the Heat, and it appears that his concerns extended beyond just on-court matters. Ultimately, Butler was traded to the Golden State Warriors, where he has found a rhythm, although he missed a recent game due to back spasms. However, off-court issues from his time in Miami have resurfaced.
Butler is facing a lawsuit from Five Star Marketing and Promotions Inc., which claims he failed to pay over $250,000 in rent and left approximately $127,000 worth of damages. During his tenure with the Heat, Butler rented a home in Miami, where he played for six seasons and participated in two NBA Finals.
The lawsuit alleges that Butler did not pay the last two months of rent, changed the locks, and denied access to the property owner, preventing maintenance workers from entering the home. Reportedly, the damages included mold in the ceilings and floors due to neglecting the air conditioning unit. The property is currently valued at around $10 million.
As of now, Butler has not publicly addressed the lawsuit. On the court, the Warriors have performed well, boasting a 7-1 record in the eight games Butler has played. He averaged 20 points in his first six games with the team, but has struggled recently, scoring only six and five points in his last two outings, respectively.
