**Couple Arrested in Kerala for Brutal Torture of Two Men**

A couple from central Kerala has been apprehended for allegedly subjecting two men to severe torture, including the use of staples and pepper spray. The accused, Jayesh and his wife Reshmi, residents of Charalakunnu near Koipuram, reportedly lured their victims to their home under false pretenses.

The first victim, a 19-year-old from Neelamperoor, was coerced into performing sexual acts with Reshmi while Jayesh recorded the incident. He was restrained, beaten with an iron rod, assaulted with a bicycle chain, threatened with a dagger, pepper-sprayed, and robbed of ₹19,000 before being abandoned at an autorickshaw stand.

The second victim, a former colleague of Jayesh, was invited to the couple’s residence on Onam day, where he was allegedly beaten and had staples forcibly attached to 23 locations on his body, including sensitive areas. He was also robbed of money and a mobile phone.

Authorities became aware of the situation when one of the victims sought medical treatment at a local hospital. Initially, he provided a misleading account, claiming he was attacked by unknown assailants. However, upon further questioning, he disclosed that Jayesh and Reshmi were responsible for the brutal acts.

Police have registered cases under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are investigating both incidents concurrently. The couple is expected to undergo further questioning to uncover their motives. One victim suggested that the assaults may have been part of a black magic ritual, a claim that is currently being verified.

Jayesh and Reshmi were arrested on Friday and have since been remanded to judicial custody.
