Asaduddin Owaisi claims that the BJP continues to succeed in elections due to the ineffectiveness of the Opposition.

**BJP’s Electoral Success Attributed to Consolidation of Hindu Votes, Says Owaisi**

Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), stated on Sunday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been winning elections consistently across India due to its ability to consolidate Hindu votes. He criticized the opposition parties, labeling them as ineffective in their efforts to challenge the BJP’s dominance.

Owaisi’s comments came in response to allegations from opposition parties suggesting that AIMIM serves as the ‘B-team’ of the BJP. He dismissed these claims as a manifestation of the opposition’s animosity towards his party, which primarily represents the interests of Muslims. “The BJP is gaining power because the opposition is failing. It is winning elections by securing nearly 50 percent of the Hindu votes,” he remarked during an interview with PTI.

He further questioned the logic behind blaming him for the BJP’s electoral success, stating, “If I contest in Hyderabad, Aurangabad, Kishanganj, and other constituencies in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and the BJP wins 240 seats, how can I be held responsible?”

Opposition parties, particularly the Congress, have criticized Owaisi’s attempts to expand AIMIM beyond its traditional stronghold in Hyderabad, arguing that his presence in elections could siphon off Muslim votes, inadvertently aiding the BJP. In response, Owaisi accused these parties of taking Muslim votes for granted and neglecting their genuine concerns.

He emphasized the need for political representation for Muslims, stating, “When every segment of society has political leadership, why is it unacceptable for Muslims to have a political voice?” Owaisi’s remarks were directed at all political parties, including the BJP, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and the Samajwadi Party (SP).

Owaisi’s comments come at a time when he has received attention for his strong stance on national security issues, particularly following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. He is also part of a delegation addressing Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and India’s countermeasures.

During the interview, Owaisi highlighted the underrepresentation of Muslims in legislative bodies, noting that they constitute only 4 percent of the legislatures and Parliament, despite being the largest minority group in India, making up nearly 15 percent of the population. He argued that India’s goal of becoming a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed India) by 2047 cannot be achieved while marginalizing such a significant community.

Owaisi called for political parties to stop viewing Muslims merely as vote banks and instead focus on their upliftment, education, and fair treatment. “Our struggle is not just to be voters; we want to be recognized as citizens,” he asserted.
