CommScope is evaluating the possibility of selling its broadband division, CCS.

**CommScope Considers Sale of Broadband Division Amid Debt Reduction Efforts**

CommScope Holding Co. is reportedly exploring the sale of its broadband connectivity and cable division, known as CCS, as part of a strategy to reduce its debt burden. The network infrastructure company is collaborating with an advisor to assess interest from potential buyers, including private equity firms and industry players. The estimated value for CCS could reach up to $10 billion.

In addition to the potential sale of CCS, CommScope is also contemplating other options, including the possibility of selling the entire company. However, the firm’s significant debt, which stands at approximately $7.4 billion, may complicate such a move. CCS is the largest segment of CommScope, contributing significantly to both sales and operating income.

The discussions regarding the sale are still in the preliminary stages, and there is no certainty that they will lead to a transaction. A spokesperson for CommScope, based in Claremont, North Carolina, declined to provide further comments on the matter.

CommScope’s stock has seen a remarkable increase, more than quadrupling in value over the past year. Recently, shares rose by as much as 8.4% before closing up 3.8% at $5.70, giving the company a market capitalization of around $1.2 billion. After facing challenges with rising debt, CommScope has been actively working to de-leverage through refinancing and asset sales. Last year, the company sold its mobile networks division to Amphenol Corp. for $2.1 billion, using the proceeds to pay down debt. In December, CommScope successfully refinanced $4.3 billion in debt with the help of creditors, including Apollo Global Management Inc. and Monarch Alternative Capital.

CCS plays a crucial role in enabling internet service providers to deliver high-speed broadband to residential and commercial clients. The division also supplies connectivity solutions for data centers, which are experiencing growth driven by increasing demand for AI technologies. According to the latest annual report, CCS generated approximately $2.8 billion in net sales for 2024, accounting for about 67% of CommScope’s total revenue, and reported an operating income of $466 million, a significant increase of 251% from the previous year.

In 2018, CommScope acquired Arris International Plc for around $7.4 billion, including debt, further expanding its footprint in the broadband market.
