**Dubai Embraces Bitcoin and Crypto for Government Services**

Dubai is taking a significant step towards integrating cryptocurrencies into daily life. At the recent Dubai FinTech Summit, the city’s Department of Finance (DOF) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Crypto.com, allowing residents to use cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, for government service payments.

This partnership was formalized by key officials, including His Excellency Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti and His Excellency Abdulrahman Saleh Al Saleh, alongside representatives from Crypto.com. Al Basti emphasized Dubai’s commitment to advancing its cashless strategy through innovative financial technology solutions, expressing gratitude to the DOF for fostering global partnerships.

The initiative aligns with Dubai’s ambitious goal of becoming nearly cashless by 2026. Through the Crypto.com app, users will be able to pay in Bitcoin, which will be converted into Emirati dirhams and transferred directly to the government. This system is designed to be user-friendly, efficient, and secure.

Al Saleh highlighted the importance of this collaboration in shaping a digital financial future, stating that the partnership with Crypto.com is crucial for progress. Ahmad Ali Meftah from the DOF noted that such public-private collaborations enhance trust, drive innovation, and improve accessibility to financial systems for all.

This initiative is part of Dubai’s D33 Economic Agenda, which aims to leverage technology and innovation to stimulate economic growth, with expectations of generating at least AED8 billion annually. Eric Anziani, President and COO of Crypto.com, praised Dubai’s visionary approach, expressing pride in supporting the first large-scale government implementation of crypto payments.

While technical arrangements are still being finalized, once operational, individuals and businesses will be able to make government payments through the Crypto.com platform, marking a significant milestone in the adoption of cryptocurrency in public services.
