IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to enhance its luxury offerings in India, focusing on introducing high-end brands such as Regent, Kimpton, and Vignette Collection. However, the company has decided to pause the expansion of its Six Senses brand for the time being. Kenneth Macpherson, CEO for Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, emphasized the potential for growth with these new luxury brands, stating, “We are looking at very exclusive growth for Six Senses, while also exploring opportunities to introduce Regent, Kimpton, and Vignette Collection, which have significant potential in the Indian market.”

Currently, India hosts two of the 27 Six Senses properties worldwide. IHG, which operates well-known brands like Intercontinental, is accelerating its expansion in India and plans to launch a new hotel brand by the end of this year. As of now, seven of its 20 global brands are present in India, with Intercontinental having established a strong presence since the 1960s.

In 2025, IHG has already signed agreements for nine new hotels in India, including the introduction of the Crowne Plaza brand in Jim Corbett. Other upcoming projects include a Holiday Inn in Puri, Odisha, and additional hotels along the Bengaluru-Mumbai-Goa Highway and in Kasauli. Typically, the development of new hotels takes between three to five years when initiated as greenfield projects.

Among the new brands being introduced is Garner Hotels, a recently acquired global brand by IHG. The company announced its entry into India with two properties set to open in 2026 and 2027, located in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, and Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir. Garner Hotels will cater to budget-conscious travelers and will operate under a franchise model, managed by Rosaoul Hotelco Pvt. Ltd (Rosastays). This mid-market brand primarily focuses on converting existing hotels to join the IHG portfolio.

Looking ahead, IHG’s global CEO, Elie Maalouf, has expressed ambitions to significantly increase the company’s presence in India, aiming to double the number of operational hotels within the next five years. In 2024 alone, IHG signed 17 new deals, bringing its total to 47 hotels in the country.
