IndiGo has commenced its operations from Hindon airport, following Air India’s lead, and now offers connections to nine different cities.

**Hindon Airport Expands Connectivity with New IndiGo Flights**

Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad is experiencing a significant enhancement in connectivity following the launch of new IndiGo flight routes by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu on Saturday, as reported by ANI. This marks IndiGo as the second airline to commence operations at Hindon Airport, joining Air India Express.

With this expansion, Hindon Airport, located in the National Capital Region (NCR), now offers direct flights to nine cities: Indore, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Varanasi, Goa, Patna, Chennai, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. Minister Kinjarapu described this development as a landmark moment, stating, “This is an (Udan) success for Hindon, Ghaziabad, western Uttar Pradesh, and the entire country. This is an Udan of the ambitions and aspirations of common Indians.”

The minister emphasized the remarkable growth of India’s civil aviation sector, noting that the country’s airline fleet, airport capacity, terminals, and passenger numbers have all doubled over the past decade. He projected that from 2024 to 2034, civil aviation in tier II and III cities will continue to grow, unlocking significant potential, with Hindon serving as a prime example.

Developed under the UDAN scheme in 2019 at a cost of Rs 50 crore in collaboration with the Indian Air Force, Hindon Airport is steadily establishing itself as a crucial regional hub. In 2019, the airport saw an annual passenger traffic of around 8,000, a figure that has now surged to over 80,000, according to Minister Kinjarapu.

The government is also committed to enhancing regional connectivity, as highlighted in the Union Budget 2025–26. “Inspired by the success of the previous regional connectivity scheme, a modified UDAN scheme will be launched to enhance regional connectivity to 120 new destinations and carry 4 crore passengers in the next 10 years,” he added.

Just hours before the launch of the new IndiGo flights, Hindon Airbase welcomed its first Air India Express flight from Kolkata, officially marking the airline’s operations from this strategic NCR location. Air India Express now offers direct flights to Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Goa from Hindon.

With both Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and Hindon Airport (HDO) operational, travelers in the NCR region now have expanded options for domestic travel. Traditionally serving as a military base, Hindon Airport is gradually transitioning to accommodate civilian flights under the Regional Connectivity Scheme.
