Infosys could lose $150 million annually from one of its biggest clients.

**Infosys Faces Challenges in Daimler Contract Renewal Amid Economic Pressures**

India’s second-largest IT services provider, Infosys, is poised to lose a significant portion of its contract with Daimler, which includes the supply of iPhone cases, laptops, Microsoft 365 subscriptions, and fingerprint readers for the automaker’s IT operations. Sources familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the information, revealed that Bengaluru-based Infosys, which reported $19.28 billion in revenue for the fiscal year ending March 2025, now needs to compensate for a $150 million shortfall—approximately 0.7% of its total business—before pursuing further growth. This comes at a time when macroeconomic uncertainties, tariff conflicts, and the increasing adoption of automation tools are constraining client spending.

Phil Ferht, CEO of HFS Research, a Massachusetts-based IT research and consulting firm, commented, “It is unlikely that Infosys will see meaningful incremental revenue from Daimler in the near term. Even when renewals happen, pricing pressures and scope rationalization often negate any potential expansion. The emphasis is shifting towards maintaining relevance in strategic digital, engineering, and core platform areas rather than increasing total contract value.”

In December 2020, Infosys entered into a substantial $3.2 billion, eight-year IT transformation agreement with Daimler, covering six business divisions, including network services, cybersecurity, SAP software, data centers, after-sales call services, and workplace solutions—the latter being the largest segment. Following Daimler’s split into Mercedes-Benz Group and Daimler Trucks in December 2021, both entities continued to engage Infosys for their IT service needs.

One insider noted, “Workplace solutions were expected to be renewed last year, but we are now awaiting clarity until June. We had issued a request for proposal (RFP), but it was not accepted by the client.” Another source indicated that the partial renewal of the contract is occurring amid ongoing disputes between the two companies regarding execution and billing delays. As of January 12, Daimler, encompassing both Mercedes and Daimler Trucks, reportedly owes Infosys nearly $47 million in outstanding payments dating back to 2021.

While it remains unclear whether large contracts allow for the extension of individual segments, it has been confirmed that cybersecurity and data center services have been renewed until 2029 under the Infosys-Daimler agreement. However, the SAP, call functionality, and network segments have yet to be fully renewed. Queries sent to Infosys went unanswered, and both Daimler and Mercedes-Benz declined to comment on their supplier relationships and internal processes.
