During a recent public rally in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut delivered a passionate speech aimed at the Congress party, accusing it of being a remnant of British colonialism and alleging its involvement in past acts of terrorism. Ranaut claimed that Congress has connections to Pakistan and fostered an environment of fear and unrest during its governance.

Ranaut stated, “We are connected to Sanatani culture, and Congress are the forgotten offspring of the British… This is the reality of Congress – it’s a gang of dacoits. Atal Ji (Atal Bihari Vajpayee) ran the government with great difficulty. Atal Ji was a patriot. During Atal Bihari’s government, these people (Congress) orchestrated an attack on Parliament. There were terror attacks everywhere… they spread terror all over the country… because they (Congress leaders) are aligned with Pakistan.”

She also took aim at the pre-election promises made by Congress leaders, remarking, “Before the elections in Mandi, Alka Lamba came here and said we will give Rs 8,000 salary to women, we will give Rs 50,000. They said all of this because they know they are liars.”

In her address, Ranaut praised Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his decisive actions during parliamentary debates regarding the recent amendments to the Waqf bill. She noted, “When Amit Shah was explaining the benefits of the Waqf bill, these people started making a ruckus, started disrupting the Houses. But the Home Minister roared and said he will watch and see who will try to stop the bill from being implemented.”

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill was successfully passed in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha after extensive debates lasting over 12 hours, and it has received the approval of President Droupadi Murmu. This Act amends the Waqf Act of 1995, which governs the management and oversight of waqf properties in India. Key changes include requirements for state waqf boards to digitize records and establish a time-bound mechanism for dispute resolution through designated waqf tribunals.

Ranaut concluded her speech by expressing gratitude to the people of Mandi and assuring them of forthcoming improvements in the development of Himachal Pradesh.
