Karnataka BJP MLA denied bail in rowdy-sheeter murder case; Look Out Notice issued.

**Karnataka Court Denies Anticipatory Bail to BJP MLA in Murder Case**

A Karnataka court has denied anticipatory bail to BJP MLA Byrathi Basavaraj in connection with the murder of rowdy-sheeter Shivaprakash, also known as Biklu Shivu, who was brutally killed in the city on July 15. Following the court’s decision, Basavaraj, who is reportedly untraceable, faces the possibility of arrest by the investigating agency at any moment.

This ruling comes shortly after the Karnataka High Court also rejected Basavaraj’s anticipatory bail request on December 19. As the investigation progresses, police are scrutinizing Basavaraj’s alleged involvement in the murder, where he has been named as the fifth accused in the First Information Report (FIR).

During the court proceedings, senior advocate Sandesh Chauta represented Basavaraj, while Special Public Prosecutor Ashok Naik presented the case for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Naik submitted a copy of the charge sheet, highlighting significant evidence, including crucial tower location details and a recorded telephone conversation between the first and fifth accused. He argued that further essential links in the case could only be established through Basavaraj’s arrest and subsequent custodial interrogation.

In response, Chauta contended that the allegations against the MLA were based on speculative assumptions of conspiracy and intent, lacking solid evidence. He pointed out that even five months post-incident, investigators had not produced material evidence linking his client to the crime. Chauta further claimed that the primary accused, Jaga, was attempting to falsely implicate Basavaraj by referencing unrelated social interactions, such as attending a birthday party and visiting the Kumbh Mela. He also noted that despite Basavaraj’s willingness to cooperate, no summons had been issued to him.

After considering the arguments, Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhatt reserved the order earlier in the day before ultimately rejecting the bail plea. In a subsequent development, the CID issued a Look-Out Notice against Basavaraj to prevent him from leaving the country as the investigation intensifies.
