Live: Government to reallocate IndiGo’s 10% reduced operations to other airlines.

**IndiGo’s Operations to be Redistributed Amid Ongoing Cancellations**

The Indian government has announced plans to redistribute 10% of IndiGo’s curtailed flight operations to other airlines as the carrier continues to face significant disruptions. This decision comes after IndiGo experienced its ninth consecutive day of operational challenges, with over 100 flight cancellations reported in major cities like Chennai and Hyderabad.

On December 10, 2025, Hyderabad’s Shamshabad airport recorded 33 cancellations, including 15 departures and 18 arrivals. Meanwhile, Chennai airport reported a total of 70 cancellations, comprising 37 incoming flights and 33 outgoing flights. The ongoing disruptions have raised concerns among passengers, prompting the government to take action.

Senior officials indicated that the reallocation of flights will be carefully managed to prevent further cancellations at the receiving airlines. The redistribution will be based on the available resources of the airlines involved, ensuring that the additional flights do not exacerbate the current situation.

Despite the challenges, IndiGo will maintain operations across all its routes, although adjustments may be made on high-demand sectors. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has mandated a 10% reduction in IndiGo’s flight schedule, particularly affecting high-frequency routes. A meeting at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan was held to evaluate the operational status, resource availability, and passenger care.

In response to the operational review, Air India has already added 12 flights to its schedule as part of the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s efforts to enhance service across the sector. The government aims to ensure that the redistribution of IndiGo’s curtailed operations is executed smoothly, minimizing the impact on passengers.

As the situation develops, passengers are encouraged to stay informed about their flight statuses and any potential changes to their travel plans.
