Max Healthcare CMD Soi emphasizes the necessity of continuous construction and expansion.

**Max Healthcare Expands Capacity with 1,300 New Beds by December 2025**

Max Healthcare is set to enhance its hospital capacity significantly, with plans to add over 1,300 beds across its facilities by December 2025. This expansion includes 268 beds in Nanavati, Mumbai, 155 beds in Mohali, and 400 beds in Saket, Delhi, all expected to be operational by mid-year. The hospital chain aims to increase its overall capacity by 30% in the coming year, as stated by managing director and chairman Abhay Soi.

The company is pursuing a dual strategy: solidifying its leadership in North India while also exploring acquisition opportunities in other regions, particularly in western India. Soi emphasized the pressing need for more hospital beds, noting that India currently faces a shortage of 2.4 million beds to meet the World Health Organization’s recommended ratio of three beds per 1,000 people, according to a 2023 Knight Frank report.

With rising per capita income and increasing public demand for quality healthcare, Soi expressed concern that the country may not catch up with the growing need for healthcare facilities in the next 20 to 30 years. “We need to build, build, build,” he stated, highlighting the urgency of expanding healthcare infrastructure.

In the previous year, Max Healthcare increased its capacity by 30%, with 20% of that growth achieved through acquisitions. This year, the company plans to continue this trend, focusing on adding beds to existing facilities. In addition to the new beds in Mumbai, Mohali, and Delhi, another 550 beds will be added in Gurugram by December. The hospital chain recently inaugurated its 300-bed greenfield facility in Dwarka, which has already reached EBITDA breakeven within six months of operation.

Max Healthcare also plans to open three additional hospitals in Mohali, Mumbai, and Saket later this year, with a long-term goal of adding 3,700 beds across key locations in India by 2028, backed by an investment of ₹6,000 crore. Soi affirmed that profits generated in the next decade will be reinvested into developing healthcare assets.
