**Tesla Expands Presence in India with New Gurugram Facility**
Tesla India Motor & Energy Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of the American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Inc., has broadened its real estate presence in India by securing a lease for retail space in Gurugram. The company will pay approximately ₹40 lakh per month for a substantial 33,475 square feet of ground floor area designated for a retail, service, and delivery center at Orchid Business Park, located on Sohna Road.
This new facility marks Tesla’s strategic entry into the National Capital Region’s automobile servicing hub, with plans to establish its first service, delivery, and retail center in the area. Abhishek Kiran Gupta, CEO and co-founder of CRE Matrix, noted that Tesla’s rental agreement reflects a 6% premium over the average rate for such large spaces, at ₹120 per square foot per month. The company has committed to a nine-year lease and has provided a security deposit of ₹2.41 crore, leasing the space from Garwal Property Pvt Ltd.
Tesla’s expansion in India has been characterized by a multi-city rollout that includes office and retail spaces, as well as service and warehousing facilities. Earlier this year, Tesla leased 24,565 square feet at Lodha Logistics Park in Kurla West, Mumbai, to serve as a service center, with a starting monthly rent of ₹37.53 lakh for a five-year lease, totaling over ₹24 crore.
In addition to its new Gurugram facility, Tesla operates a 30-seater office in a co-working space in Kurla and a retail outlet in the prestigious Maker Maxity complex in Bandra-Kurla Complex, which it leased at a record rate of ₹881 per square foot. Beyond Mumbai, Tesla has also secured 5,850 square feet of office space in Pune and recently acquired showroom space in Delhi.
As Tesla continues to establish its footprint in India, the company is poised to enhance its service capabilities and retail presence, catering to the growing demand for electric vehicles in the region.
