**Bengaluru City Police Launches Custom Messaging App for Officers**

The Bengaluru City Police has introduced a new messaging application designed specifically for police officers, aimed at improving internal communication. Known internally as BCPChat, the app has been in development for the past three to four months and has been actively utilized for the last 15 days. The official launch was announced by Bengaluru Commissioner of Police B Dayananda.

BCPChat offers functionalities similar to popular messaging platforms, including the ability to send individual and group messages, share audio, video, images, and documents such as PDFs. However, it is uniquely tailored for police operations, featuring a user-friendly interface and stringent security measures.

A notable aspect of the app is its broadcast function, which enables the police department to send important messages to all officers simultaneously. This feature is designed to facilitate quicker and more efficient communication of updates and directives. Additionally, the app includes a built-in search engine, allowing users to easily access previous messages and documents. All communications are securely stored on servers at the Karnataka State Data Centre, ensuring data protection and straightforward retrieval of historical information.

The app is currently being utilized for daily updates, including VIP movements, media briefings, Daily Crime Reports (DCRs), Daily Situation Reports (DSRs), and official communications such as government orders and circulars. An official from the police department stated, “We have already started using it. It is in the process of improvement, but we have been using it for the last 15 days, and development has been ongoing for the past 3 to 4 months.”

In summary, the introduction of BCPChat marks a significant step forward in enhancing communication within the Bengaluru City Police, promoting efficiency and security in their operations.
