The city of Philadelphia is urging Eagles supporters to ‘celebrate responsibly’ during the parade following a series of tumultuous events.

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to parade through downtown Philadelphia on Friday to commemorate their Super Bowl victory, with over a million fans anticipated to join the celebration. However, city officials have expressed concerns due to the disorder that has accompanied the team’s recent successes. Following both the Super Bowl and NFC Championship wins, numerous arrests were made in the Broad Street area.

This marks the Eagles’ second parade in seven years, and earlier this week, the city issued a statement to fans. “The parade route has been carefully designed to ensure the safety and security of all participants. With large crowds expected, we urge everyone to celebrate responsibly and respectfully, making this a moment for Philadelphia to take pride in,” the press release stated.

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker emphasized, “While city offices and buildings will be closed to allow everyone to partake in the festivities, our priority will remain on ensuring the safety of all Philadelphians.” Last year, a shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl rally resulted in one fatality.

Following the Eagles’ Super Bowl win, scenes of chaos unfolded in Philadelphia, with fans in team colors reportedly setting fires, vandalizing light poles, and chanting derogatory phrases. Footage from FreedomNewsTV showed a crowd looting a laundry truck and tossing towels into the air, while police responded to a fire involving the laundry. In another incident, two individuals were seen toppling a light pole, which was then vandalized by the crowd. Videos also depicted fans climbing on light poles, street signs, bus stops, trucks, and trees, with some reenacting the Eagles’ signature “tush push” play.

The Philadelphia Police Department reported that 47 individuals were arrested during the celebrations, facing charges including vandalism and assaulting a police officer. Tragically, after the NFC title game, an 18-year-old fan died days later from injuries sustained after falling from a lamp post.
