**Headline:** Congress Condemns LDF Government’s Extravagant Fourth Anniversary Celebrations in Kerala

The Congress party in Kerala has strongly criticized the CPIM-led LDF government for organizing a month-long celebration to commemorate its fourth year in power. Leader of the Opposition, VD Satheesan, accused the state government of spending over Rs 100 crore on these anniversary events, labeling the expenditure as “irresponsible” given the state’s current financial difficulties.

Satheesan remarked, “While the state government grapples with a financial crunch, they do not hesitate to spend lavishly on their celebrations. We have chosen to boycott these events. I believe that by the end of this month-long celebration, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will be viewed as a laughingstock by the public.”

In defense of the celebrations, State Finance Minister KN Balagopal asserted that the government has a responsibility to inform the public about its achievements. He stated, “We are not overspending. Where is this lavish spending? Our expenses for public relations and advertising are significantly lower compared to other states. When the opposition and BJP claim that the government has accomplished nothing, it is essential for us to communicate our successes to the people.”

The fourth anniversary celebrations were inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday in Kasaragod and are set to continue until May 30. As part of the festivities, the Chief Minister will visit all district headquarters, conducting meetings with a selected group of 500 individuals in each district, including Wayanad, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kottayam, Palakkad, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kannur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram.

Additionally, BJP’s Kerala state unit president Rajeev Chandrasekhar criticized the government’s preparations for the anniversary celebrations in a recent Facebook post. He characterized the LDF’s decade-long rule as a “lost decade” and described Chief Minister Vijayan’s performance as “abysmal,” alleging that the government is on the brink of bankruptcy and relying solely on borrowings, which has hindered its ability to pay pensions and wages to Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers.

In conclusion, the ongoing debate surrounding the LDF government’s anniversary celebrations highlights the contrasting perspectives on fiscal responsibility and public communication in Kerala’s political landscape.
