Protesters in Bangladesh demolish family home of exiled former prime minister Sheikh Hasina – video

In Dhaka, thousands of demonstrators have expressed their frustration towards exiled former prime minister Sheikh Hasina by destroying a family residence that once represented the nation’s independence but is now viewed as a symbol of her authoritarian rule. This house was the residence of Hasina’s late father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a key figure in the country’s fight for independence.

The protests were ignited by reports that Hasina was set to deliver an online address to her supporters from her exile in India, where she sought refuge last year amid a violent student-led uprising against her 15-year administration. During her speech, she urged her followers to oppose the interim government.
