**Stray Dog Attack Leaves College Student Severely Injured**

A 21-year-old college student was viciously attacked by stray dogs while returning home from her classes, resulting in severe facial injuries that required extensive medical treatment. The incident took place on August 20 in Shyam Nagar, where a chaotic scene unfolded as stray dogs and monkeys were reportedly engaged in a fight. Amidst the turmoil, three stray dogs targeted Vaishnavi Sahu, a final-year BBA student at Allen House Ruma College.

The dogs knocked her to the ground and viciously mauled her face and body. Her right cheek was severely lacerated, requiring 17 stitches to repair the damage, while her nose and other areas sustained multiple bite wounds. Despite her desperate attempts to escape, the dogs overpowered her and threw her back onto the road.

Local residents, alerted by her screams, rushed to her aid with sticks and managed to drive the dogs away. By the time help arrived, Vaishnavi was bleeding heavily. Her family quickly transported her to Kanshiram Hospital, where she received emergency care, including stitches for her injuries.

Her uncle, Ashutosh, shared the family’s distress, stating, “Vaishnavi, the daughter of my late brother Virendra Swaroop Sahu, was returning from college when this terrifying incident happened.” Family members reported that she is now struggling to eat or move her mouth, relying on liquids provided through a straw for sustenance.

The family is calling for immediate government intervention to address the stray dog issue. “The government must take action regarding these dogs. They should either be captured and relocated or placed in shelters to prevent further incidents like this,” they urged.

This incident has reignited discussions surrounding the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on the sterilization and relocation of stray dogs, which has sparked significant public debate across the nation.
