**Jack Fincham Granted Bail Following Dog Attack Sentencing**
Jack Fincham, the winner of Love Island, has been released on bail while awaiting an appeal, just hours after being sentenced to six weeks in jail for his cane corso dog attacking a runner. The 32-year-old pleaded guilty at Southend Magistrates’ Court to two charges of being in control of a dangerously out-of-control dog, one of which resulted in injury.
In addition to his prison sentence, Fincham was ordered to pay a total of £3,680, which includes £2,000 for kennelling costs, a £961 fine, and £200 in compensation. Following the sentencing on Wednesday, it was revealed that he had successfully filed an appeal and was granted conditional bail.
Fincham’s solicitor informed Sky News that District Judge Williams considered the bail application in an open court session. After the sentence was pronounced, Fincham was seen giving a thumbs up as he was escorted to the cells, while a woman in the public gallery was visibly upset.
The court heard that Fincham’s dog, Elvis, bit a runner in Swanley, Kent, in September 2022. Initially, Fincham was to receive a caution and participate in a responsible dog ownership course after the victim accepted his apology, with conditions that included muzzling the dog. However, a second incident occurred in June of the following year in Grays, Essex, leading to charges against Fincham.
During sentencing, presiding magistrate Anne Wade noted that Fincham was already under a suspended sentence for an unrelated driving offense at the time of the Swanley incident. This previous sentence included 12 weeks of custody, suspended for 18 months. As a result, part of this order was activated, leading to the six-week prison term.
Ms. Wade emphasized that the dog was in a public area without adhering to the conditions of being muzzled and leashed. Fincham’s representative stated that he had “no savings” to cover the £3,680, but Ms. Wade allowed for installment payments starting at £400 per month. She also mandated that the dog must be muzzled in public, kept on a lead, and not left alone with anyone under 16.
Fincham gained fame after winning the fourth series of Love Island in 2018 alongside his then-girlfriend Dani Dyer. The couple was a fan favorite throughout the season but announced their breakup six months after leaving the villa in Majorca.
