In a significant operation, the Punjab Police has dismantled a Khalistani terror module allegedly supported by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The operation led to the arrest of six members of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) group, as confirmed by the state’s police chief on Tuesday.

The Director General of Punjab Police, Gaurav Yadav, announced that the Batala Police successfully disrupted a BKI terror network that was reportedly directed by foreign handlers, including Maninder Billa and Mannu Agwan, under the orders of Harwinder Singh Rinda, a Khalistani terrorist based in Pakistan.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Jatin Kumar (also known as Rohan), Barinder Singh (alias Sajan), Rahul Masih, Abraham (also known as Rohit), Sohit, and Sunil Kumar. According to police reports, this module had attempted a grenade attack outside a liquor store in Batala.

The operatives were reportedly receiving direct commands from Maninder Billa, who is based in Portugal, and Mannu Agwan, who has recently assumed operational leadership following the arrest of the notorious gangster Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, in the United States.

During the operation, Jatin Kumar sustained injuries during an exchange of gunfire with the police while being apprehended. He reportedly fired at the officers, prompting a retaliatory response, and is currently receiving treatment at the Civil Hospital in Batala. Additionally, authorities recovered a .30 bore pistol during the operation, leading to the registration of a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

This operation marks a crucial step in combating ISI-backed terror networks operating within India, highlighting the ongoing challenges posed by international terrorism.
