A property dispute in Moga district, Punjab, turned violent on July 14 when a man allegedly tried to run over his elder brother’s family with a car. The shocking incident, captured on CCTV, resulted in serious injuries to three family members.

The conflict originated between Surjit Singh and his wife, who had been living with their youngest son, Dilbag Singh, until a month prior. Following a disagreement over property matters, Dilbag Singh expelled his parents from his home, prompting them to move in with their eldest son, Balwinder Singh, in Gatti Jatta village of Dharmkot. This relocation reportedly heightened tensions between the two brothers.

On the evening of the incident, Balwinder Singh, along with his wife and daughter, was standing at their home’s gate when Dilbag Singh allegedly drove his car towards them with the intent to harm. According to police reports, Dilbag Singh was passing by when he spotted his elder brother’s family outside. He reportedly stopped the vehicle, instructed his wife to exit, and then accelerated towards the group, aiming to run them over.

The attack left the victims with serious injuries, and neighbors quickly transported them to a private hospital in Moga for urgent medical care. In his statement to the police, Balwinder Singh expressed concern over his younger brother’s behavior, stating, “My younger brother, Dilbag Singh, has been angry since our parents came to live with me. He threatened me multiple times before driving his car at us intentionally.”

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramandeep Singh confirmed that a case has been filed against Dilbag Singh and his wife based on Balwinder Singh’s complaint. “We are thoroughly investigating the matter and analyzing the CCTV footage,” Singh added.

This incident highlights the severe consequences that property disputes can have on family relationships, leading to violence and injury.
